Dear Newcastle Families,

NESD has again entered into a contract with Placer Hills Union School District to provide a school-to-home transportation program for the upcoming school year. This service is free of charge to families.

This website contains information regarding the application for school bus transportation. It also includes information about bus schedules and stops, conduct expectations, and operational policies. We will issue bus passes to adhere to Placer Hills' rules and regulations for bus ridership.

About the school-to-home transportation program:
  • Routes are for dismissal times only. There is no option to ride the bus to school.
  • Limits on the number of riders are determined by the capacity of the school bus. If the number of applications exceeds the capacity, a lottery will be held to determine which students receive a bus pass. The remaining students will be placed on a waiting list.
  • All students must adhere to bus rules and conduct expectations - including regular attendance. Failure to obey the rules and procedures will result in the student losing bus riding privileges.
  • Routes are established by Placer Hills Union School District and comply with Ca. Highway Patrol requirements. Stops must be within district boundaries and selected to promote student safety, maximum efficiency, and decreased traffic in and around schools.
  • Regional stops are established for students residing outside of the district boundaries. Charter students may utilize bus transportation.
  • To ensure your child's safety, parents/guardians should plan to arrive at the bus stop 5-10 minutes before expected arrival.
  • Parents/guardians must be present at the stops to pick up their TK-3rd grade students unless a note to leave children with another is on file with the driver.
  • TK-3 students who are not picked up at their stops will be returned to school, and their parents will be contacted.

Applications for bus passes are being accepted through this website starting May 20, 2024. Families will be notified of the status of their application starting July 29, 2024. Bus passes will be distributed by the bus driver. Those students who do not have a bus pass will not be allowed to ride the bus until their application has been approved and processed.

Questions regarding bus transportation should be directed to the NESD District Office at 916-259-2832.
